As promised...

Here are some photos from the Gwen Marston workshops this weekend. Unfortunately, everyone was so busy getting inspired on Saturday that we didn't get a chance to snap any pictures...but there was some incredible progress in both workshops!

The first two photos are of Gwen's show and tell that she brought with her, and the rest are class projects and fun...enjoy!

After two days of hard work...

Now, on to the task of completing all the fabulous projects that were started this weekend..good luck!

And the Winner is...

We're excited to announce the lucky winner of our Two Thimbles blog giveaway!

In fact...we decided to draw TWO winners! We chose an impartial judge (our guest instructor for the last few days...) to draw two names, and here are the results:

Janet will receive this Seashell Pincushion, our Pincushion of the Month from April 2010. Here is Janet's response:

I love coming to Two Thimbles. The latest sale was so great with the Gees Bend fabric on sale! I usually buy batiks when I am at the store. Your book selection is pretty great too!

E.N. will receive a Watermelon Pincushion, our featured pincushion from September 2009. Here is E.N's response:

Fun! Well, I really enjoy working with reproduction fabrics and I really like Lee's choices. There is always an interesting mix of prints to choose  from. Sometimes it's hard to make a decision! I also find coming to the shop sparks my creativity, as there are great displays and fun conversations. Fabric to touch, things to see, kindred spirits, I love this shop!!!!!

If you are one of the chosen winners, please contact the shop to claim your prize (you can call 360-715-1629, or email leeg@twothimbles.com). There may even be an extra fat quarter included...

Thanks to all who participated! We really appreciate all the great feedback and support that we receive from our customers. Looking forward to many more fun projects and inspirational ideas shared!

We're wrapping up the last day of the Gwen Marston workshops- everyone's having a lot of fun! Look for photos soon...

Giveaway Time!

We're going to try something new on the Two Thimbles blog- a giveaway!

For those of you who don't know, we feature a new pincushion at the beginning of every month, and post it on our blog. We always have kits or patterns available, and there's always variety from one month to the next...you can never have too many pincushions, right?!? You can view some of the previous months' projects here.

2T Fans, get ready...we're giving away one of our retired pincushion samples!  The bonus is that this prize is already made for you, so no work on your part! You may even receive an extra surprise along with your pincushion...

Participation is easy- all you have to do is post a comment below, sharing with us: your favorite style of fabric to work with, and what you find inspiring about coming to Two Thimbles. The more creative, the better!

We'll draw a name and announce the winner by midday on Monday, May 21st. Good luck!
Note: We appreciate all participation but we will not be shipping internationally, so please arrange for pick up if you are the lucky winner and you live outside the US.

New Ideas

Now that our sale is over...time for some new projects!

This quilt has actually been hanging in the classroom for a couple of weeks...and it's been so popular that the main fabrics are nearly gone! The fabrics are from Moda by Barbara Brackman.  The photo doesn't really do it justice...the rusty orange and chocolate brown are so striking. We do have a couple of kits left and the other color option is a beautiful silver sage and dusty blue...Mother's Day gift, anyone?

Speaking of Mother's Day gifts...books are always a good option. This new one from Michele Hill (same designer of the Arts and Crafts BOM program) features applique projects in a William Morris style.

This new group from Michael Miller features pale blue, green and grey...with a super cute creepy-crawly motif. This is just a sample of the bolts we have in stock...you'll have to visit to see the rest! They'd be really fun in a baby quilt...or a diaper tote?

This funky new line from Moda is called A Stitch in Color...the colors are just so vibrant, they just scream springtime, don't you think? They'd be fabulous in a blocky quilt design.

A Sweet Treat

Well, our Anniversary sale is off to a great start - maybe the good weather will hold off another day so we can stay inside and play with fabric?! If you haven't made it over to Two Thimbles yet, you should come by soon...our sale runs through today and you won't want to miss out on the fun!

Here is our newest pincushion...a sweet treat, if you ask me! These little 'chocolate pin keeps' were just too cute to pass up. We packaged up two colorways - one using a Civil War print, and another in a funky geometric fabric. The base is made of a faux leather we're now carrying- a great material for a handbag. These little treats are a snap to whip up, and would look just darling lined up in a little chocolate box...you can't have too many pincushions, right? To top it off, we added this vintage Whitman's sampler box to the photo...just the right touch, don't you think?

The samples below are from a class that we're offering in June- Judy Robertson of Just Imagination is coming on Saturday, June 9th to share some piecing secrets and techniques, in a project we're calling Sliver Inserts. Judy is a local artist who dyes her own fabric- and she'll be bringing some of her own pieces for a trunk sale! Her art is so inspiring that we've quickly filled the class- BUT we will have a waiting list for those of you who may be interested for a future date with Judy!
