Flannel Projects!

It's almost time for the temperatures outside to be a bit too close to freezing...and that means a flannel project is starting to sound pretty good!  We have some great bundles if you want to get a rag quilt project started.  We made this sample holiday-esqe rag quilt a few years ago and although we don't have these exact fabrics, we do have some great options - denim and gray colors or fun new plaid and tweed textures.  Let us help you choose a combination that will work for your decor.

Or try a log cabin quilt block - this project can be as scrappy as you want to make it - we have some scrap bags of strips and squares you can supplement your scraps and get going on this cozy project now.  Since the seams can be a bit bulky with flannel - a log cabin block is a good choice.

We have a bunch of flannel choices for the little ones - a few bright and bold choices along with this softer palette from Bunnyhill.  Great for receiving blankets and accessories!

We've combined a bunch of different prints for grab-and-go receiving blanket options - these are a great alternative for an easy baby shower gift or an acquaintance who deserves a handmade gift - these are ideal to stitch up in a hurry or keep on reserve for a go-to gift item.

Hope you're ready for some fall sewing!

New For the Stash!

Look at this glitzy cork fabric - it makes a great accent for a zipper pouch or bag!

And to contrast with our gray skies - we have some bold prints from Freespirit Fabrics - a mixture of Philip Jacobs, Kaffe Fasset and Brandon Mabley prints.

We also have added some gorgeous new lawns, knits, denims and a few rayon prints as well.  These are great for wearables and the knits are fun additions for leggings, fingerless gloves & hats so you can mix and match your project choices.  The extra width for alot of these substrates also means a backing fabric that is soft and just wide enough you may not have to piece it.  Super soft and extra touchable - a knit swaddling blanket for a baby or a quilt backing of cotton lawn.

We also have vinyl fuse - the easy way to add a waterproof finish to create your own laminate - perfect to line a cosmetic bag or lunch bag but still use your favorite fabric!

A couple of new collections - this one from Moda, Hushabye includes a few brushed cotton prints and charm squares and the woodsy creatures are super cute!  This is a special one so you may want to stock up for when the time is right.

Some bright and wild motifs on this collection "Neptune and the Mermaid" - these are unique prints and offer some great fussy cutting potential.

And a bit calmer palette - but still an amazing range of colors that can be enhanced with pops of teal, ochre and aqua....this would be a great combination for table toppers that add color without dictating a particular style with specific motifs.

Lots of great fabrics to get your projects off to a great start!

Delilah Month 8

More blocks to add to the stack!  These blocks are 9 inch now, so working a bit smaller and although I've been working on this project for several months, my stack of mis-cuts continues to grow. Somehow, reverse isn't always reversed when I start to assemble the pieces!

We have some other blocks to share and it is great to see what these fabric variations highlight in each block.

I'm looking forward to combining the blocks to see how the layout for this quilt comes together.  Time to get serious about any last minute color tweaks!

Spooky decorating and great fabric!

We have a great selection of fall pumpkins and straight up Halloween fabric.  These retro prints featured in the placemats below are fun ways to feature a great motif and certainly make a popular house warming gift!  The Fundamentally Fun pattern includes a table runner option and we have a few fabulous Holiday prints that will be great to sew up now and be ready for the last minute holiday rush!  Placemats are fast to stitch up and functional gifts for almost anyone on your gift list.  Matching mitered napkins and you have your holiday decor all set!

Fundamentally Fun Placemats

Our sample quilt is about to be retired, and we have a few panels left (30% off) and a simple recipe for adding borders to this project for a fun throw quilt.  These panels also stitch up fast for a fun accent pillow.  Lots of time left to stitch up something fun and to stock up on pumpkins and treats!

We have some fun fabric adding to the shelves ...and a few bolts scattered on the floor.  A sure sign we need to re-organize and shift things around a bit.

Some of the new fibers and textures we're adding expand your sewing options well beyond quilts.  These double gauze fabrics make fabulous swaddling blankets, but also soft robes, scarves and little kimono style pj's.  The fabric gets softer with each wash!

Show and Share!

One of our customer's has been cranking out these Emmaline bags - everyone gets a personalized bag from Patty!  It is a great one-size-fits-all project - the version shown below is the larger size frame, which is great for a wide open option.  We'll be restocking frames again soon at this rate.  Thanks for sharing your photos Patty and we hope to see some more creations soon!

This amazing quilt is really two quilts in one.  The top is an abundance of organized scrappy fun - it features a project on the cover of Kim Diehl's book Simple Graces.  The bonus quilt is the backing - Kay included orphan blocks and scraps galore for  seriously pieced backing.  What a fun quilt to cozy up under and study all the great fabric combinations!  Thanks for sharing Kay!

Delilah, making progress?

For those of you following our Delilah TOM project, designed by Jen Kingwell - we are making progress!  These are month 7 blocks and the busy combinations continue!  It is amazing to see the variations in the blocks depending on the fabric emphasis for color value placement.  For those of you participating through our shop send us your pictures and we'll add them to our posts!

These blocks below are featuring Carolyn Friedlander fabrics from Robert Kaufman and the effect is distinctly different!
