Blueberries, blue hexies and bookmarks!

We had some fun with the hexagon blueberry block we made for the Tri-County Farm To Market Quilt Tour last month.  In addition to featuring our block on a couple of tote bags, we also incorporated it onto a tea towel - the new hucksack toweling we have in stock was a perfect opportunity to mix some applique and stitching.

Then we got carried away with some little bitty hexagons - I'll do the full disclosure and admit that I never would have created this if I had not inherited this stack of prepared blue 1/2 inch hexagons!  But this was the reason I'd been storing them for the last decade...and I used every one of them in this project, and know that Octavia would be pleased with the way her basket (her plan for them) morphed into this waterfall.

And then I played with some larger hexagons (1 inch) in a combination of blue solids and put this grouping of berries together for a fun wall hanging, incorporating some machine stitched leaves on an osnaburg background.  I think this method of using hexagons Modern Hexies Tutorial has alot of potential for all kinds of fun.

And here is a little picture of the bookmarks we made using some of the charms various shops were offering during the Tri-county Tour.  We have lots of fun ribbons, and a few sewing themed charms.  You can use old buttons and beads or jewelry to create some fun embellished bookmarks (you know for the old-fashioned books with paper pages...)!

Happy Stitching!
