Shop Hours

It's hard to keep up with the blur of events let alone know what day it is right?!  We have a couple of calendars left if you need one!

We're almost done counting all the things, and ready to wade into a fresh pile of projects to start for 2021...finishing projects seems so 2020 and it looks like we'll still have plenty of time to stay home and sew.

Happy Stitching!

Wrapping up 2020

We've got short hours again this week and plenty of counting ahead of us as we wrap up the year, and prepare for our stock take and paperwork avalanche!  We'll be closed for inventory January 1st - 4th.

Holiday Hours

We hope your holiday preparations are in full swing, now matter how different they may be from your typical plans!  We are happy to be wrapping up 2020 and have lots of projects to finish up before the year comes to a close - not to mention a bit of stock to count and tidying up to accomplish!  We will be closed for a few days over the holidays, but the website is always open!

Happy Stitching!

THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY HOURS

We are limiting our hours again this week as we encourage everyone to stay home and help slow the spread of COVID within our community and limit our personal contacts.  We are also taking an extra day to be home with our families...although that may seem contradictory to what alot of you have been doing....some of us have been heading out to work most days so this is a chance to relax and and enjoy some time at home - maybe dust off a sewing project or two?!  The website is available 24/7 and we are here for curbside pick-up!

We are open for walk-in shopping

 Tuesday - Wednesday - Saturday

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

We are open by appointment for individual shopping other times this week also on those days!

Please use this link to reserve a time for individual in-store shopping.

We are regularly closed Sunday and Monday!

A new little quilt, economy block or square in a square set on point is almost finished - we'll be building a few fabric kits if you're a fan of blue and brown like we are.  We've got some great holiday fabrics in store and on the website and if you're hanging on to these last days of fall, this table runner kit is just the thing!

We will continue to update our shop hours here and on our website so please check back for current information!

New Goods and Shop Hours

We've added this group of great reproduction prints recently - Walnut Creek by Julie Hendricksen for Windham Fabrics, and they are on the website.  We also have the stack of 5 inch squares if you want to have a little bit of the entire collection - these are great for English Paper Piecing and applique shapes!

We finished up a new sample quilt - featuring a pack of precut Tonga batik strips that get you off to a quick start for a fast finish with limited cutting!  We've got this combination as a kit, or packs of precut strips if you have a different favorite strip friendly project in mind.  We added a border to this project to make it a bit larger and backed it with flannel for a perfect fall couch quilt.

And of course - some perfect project inspiration and fresh ideas are always an option with Quiltmania books and then some new choices from Jen Kingwell too.  These books offer a wide range of style and technique options ranging from applique and english paper piecing techniques to the hand-piecing work that Jen favors.

Store Hours and New Fabric

We caught the afternoon sunlight on this tree across the street from the shop - if you pop by soon, you might find the leaves still on it and the pavement dry!  But then again, more rain means more time for stitching right?!

The latest issue of Quiltfolk is on the shelf - the subject is Family rather than a geographical focus for this issue.  It makes for a great rainy day read!  We've also got some other new Quiltmania books and quilt project books ready to inspire you for some winter sewing!

Some of or most recent additions to the fabric shelves cover all the options - bright and bold as well as lighter florals - some holiday options too.  One of our upgrades to the website - is a search feature so you can find these goodies by the Collection name or 'Holiday' for your Halloween and Christmas favorites!

New Hours

We are taking some time to reevaluate our shop practices and consider what our new path will look like in terms of operating hours and offerings.  Finding a balance between what works for the shop and our modified personal lives with work from home, online school and the various other changes we are all facing means it isn't business as usual.   The relocation of our local homeless shelter to the adjacent city block, along with the state mandates on occupancy levels and mask wearing, COVID sanitizing and social distancing protocols all impact our ability to operate comfortably.

Our path to reopening will continue to evolve and with our website upgrade, please consider that tool for increased access to our products.   We will continue to update our shop hours here and on our website so please check back for current information!

We're still unwrapping holiday fabric bolts and anticipating some quality evening stitching with the latest bout of stormy weather and earlier dark hours arriving this past week - all the projects seem possible!

We've added these new woven plaids and stripes in bold colors and neutrals - they're even on our new expanded website!!  This new collection is from Alison Glass for Andover Fabrics - perfect for home dec and mixing into quilt projects too!   The latest arrivals from Quiltmania were unboxed yesterday, and looks like I'll be reordering soon...is it too early to put something under the Christmas tree for yourself?

Two Thimbles News

 We have a new Website!!!

It's been a long process and the learning curve hasn't been too pretty, but we think the new features and the additional inventory make for a rather remarkable update!  We have lots more inventory to add and some fun new projects to photograph so we'll be adding more to the site in the coming weeks.

We've added a local pick up option so you can arrange for curbside pick up more easily!  And of course, the website is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and no masks are required!  Take a look and let us know what you think.    www.twothimbles.com

With our current level of smokey air due to wildfires a bit of new reading material and project inspiration might be what you need?  We can set you up with curbside pick-up, just give us a call at 360 715-1629 ~ Here are a few of our latest arrivals!

We also have the latest  book from Jo Morton, Tried and True and if you're ready to bring some gardening to the sewing room - Petal + Stem by Amy Friend has some wonderful modern floral blocks for foundation paper piecing.  If it's just some bright and fabulous fabric that you need to see, the New Vintage collection by Kathy Doughty has arrived.  It plays well with several other fabrics on our shelves so there are options to build something fun!

And for subdued florals in the 1800's flavor pink and chocolate always works - this collection from Paula Barnes, Madison Square covers the range of dark to light pretty well.

Let us know if we can help with a bit of fabric enabling!  We are still doing curbside pick up and mailing out daily!  Nothing to do but stay inside and sew right now.  Enjoy!

Here is a little quilt show offering - a few of the projects our customers have been sharing with us - what an amazing variety and so much fun to see these projects come to completion.  What a fun show this would be to see in person right?!!  Thank you for letting us share in your makes - thanks to Rachel, Darene, Caroline, Teresa and Carol for letting us share your photos with everyone.  Keep on stitching!

Rachel's mountain scene
Rachel was working from memory and a photo to recreate a familiar scene - pretty special gift completed!

Darene's great granny quilt

Darene put her collection of reproduction fabrics to great use in this rendition of a Great Granny Quilt from the book Great Granny Squared - by Lori Holt (Bee in my Bonnet).  The fat eighth cuts we send out monthly for our Sampler Club were the perfect way to use up some variety and mix and match the fabrics for fun block combinations.  This project or any other that uses 2.5 inch strips is a great option to use up some of your stash of these sampler cuts (just in case you've been stashing these cuts away)!

Caroline's quilt
Here's a spectacular walling hanging - Caroline's 2nd quilt...can you believe that?  Just look what a little quarantine does for someone's creative skills!

Teresa's book club display
Teresa has time to read and quilt and someone in her book club has a pretty spectacular display fence begging for a quilt show!  These quilts showcase a bit of talent and some fine finishing!

Carol's zen geese quilt

Carol is counting up to 19 for her quarantine efforts - here are a couple of her recent finishes.  The quilt below was inspired by one on an Alex Anderson show - and really offered some practice on quilting.  Carol participated in one of the last classes we offered before COVID hit, and it looks like Tonya Alexander of Stash Lab Quilts has another student off and running!
