All Hallows Eve minus the pumpkins and chocolate!

We've recently brought in some deliciously spooky fall-appropriate fabric for your next Halloween quilt! The All Hallow's Eve collection from Fig Tree & Co. for Moda has a lovely blend of muted grays, blacks, and pumpkin orange...not a pumpkin in sight and yet perfect for a festive fall project.  You can always have your pumpkin and chocolate on the side right?!

Things are getting festive!

The Witch is in, and so is our selection of Halloween fabrics - not just for quilts!  Pillowcases, placemats and even some pioneer girl costumes from our reproduction fabrics are in the works around town!

Have you tried a bit of crayon added to your stitching?  The added color can be subtle or stronger like our sample shown below.  We kind of like this piece - set for framing or a pillow.  We've added a few beads too!

We're trying to refrain from a bowl of trick or treat candy - it's too early, right?  But you can keep your hands busy with a stitchery project or two and Halloween will be here before you know it.

We have a great selection of fall pumpkins and straight up Halloween fabric.  These retro prints featured in the placemats below are fun ways to feature a great motif and certainly make a popular house warming gift!  The Fundamentally Fun pattern includes a table runner option and we have a few fabulous Holiday prints that will be great to sew up now and be ready for the last minute holiday rush!  Placemats are fast to stitch up and functional gifts for almost anyone on your gift list.  Matching mitered napkins and you have your holiday decor all set!

Our sample quilt is about to be retired, and we have a few panels left (30% off) and a simple recipe for adding borders to this project for a fun throw quilt.  These panels also stitch up fast for a fun accent pillow.  Lots of time left to stitch up something fun and to stock up on pumpkins and treats!

We have some fun fabric adding to the shelves ...and a few bolts scattered on the floor.  A sure sign we need to re-organize and shift things around a bit.

Some of the new fibers and textures we're adding expand your sewing options well beyond quilts.  These double gauze fabrics make fabulous swaddling blankets, but also soft robes, scarves and little kimono style pj's.  The fabric gets softer with each wash!

Our Favorites!

Things are starting to shift places at the shop...and that can only mean ONE thing.  Halloween comes before Christmas!  We have some great fabrics to mix and match - along with several oldies but goodies - we've added a few pieces from the Hocus Pocus line as well as these fun and funky ones from Cheeky Wee Pumpkins.  We also have a couple of Halloween panels and a quilt recipe to go with them, so you can create your own project combining fabrics you choose.  Here are some of our current favorites....

As I mentioned in a previous post - we love show and tell!  Here is a creative quilt Carol stitched up based around our Steampunk fabric panel - the panel is one of the 'challenging' ones, in that the blocks are different sizes, and in this case some of the motifs are round too!  This propeller block combined with the featured fussy cut blocks really worked out fabulously!  Great one-of-a-kind quilt Carol, thanks for sharing!

It's that time!

It's that time of year right?  When you are busy planning your Treats for Halloween?  Kind of spooky, but it won't be long before fall arrives and we plan to get an early start on our projects this year.  Kind of sounds like a New Years resolution all over again doesn't it.  Hmmm.

Feeling festive?

It is super wet now in Houston, and I'm catching up on details at the hotel now - getting ready for another day tomorrow.  A few classes, some time with fabric reps, walk the show floor and scout for great new stuff... And check out some great quilt exhibits!   Not all bad for sure!

Our latest fun!

What is better than finishing a project?  Starting a new one of course!  We have some great new fabrics in a variation of colors and styles and as much as I hate to even hint about it, the holidays are sneaking up on us, and you can never start planning too early for festive quilts!

Here is our latest modern mini - featuring the fabulous chambray as the background!  This is actually a pattern for a table runner - just makes 2 placemats if you want to split it in two!

We've had this large quilt hanging for a bit in the classroom - and have just a couple of kits left, it is a seasonal favorite quilt here, that features lots of reproduction cheddar and black prints.
