Sidewalk Sale

Join us outside while the sunshine lasts this Friday and Saturday from 10am-3pm!

In an effort to help maintain social distancing protocols and prevent delays at the cutting counter - we're pulling a bunch of skinny bolts that are ready to go to new homes!  This is a finish the bolt sale - most bolts will have between 3 and 5 yards left on the bolt.  Perfect for backing a quarantine project or replenishing the stash!

You can stop by and select your bolts and arrange for curbside pick up once we've processed your order - this is as close to drive through fabric shopping as we can get!

Hours and News

We are open by appointment Tuesday and Wednesday for individual shopping (it's okay to bring a friend!) from 10:00am - 4:00pm

Please use this link to reserve a time for individual in-store shopping that suits your schedule.   (there is no need to register or log in, just click on 'next' at the bottom right)

As our local COVID numbers continue to restrict business activity we have limited hours.  We feel it is important to be part of the solution and want to do our best to help mitigate the ongoing spread of COVID-19.

We have implemented a few changes to our shop layout and business practices to help maintain social distancing, upgraded sanitizing efforts and require that all customers wear facial coverings for the duration of their visit.  In-store retail services are limited to 30 minutes per Washington State safe-start guidelines.

You can find some great inspiration with these books - perfect for wool projects and new ideas for fall sewing - chances are you'll have some extra sewing time in your commitment and travel free schedule!

We've restocked some basic linen/cotton canvas perfect for backgrounds and added texture in quilts, and we have more options in cotton toweling annnnd...the latest coordinating 60 inch goods from Moda are fabulous too!  We love all the projects that designer Jenelle Kent of Pieces to Treasure has created and we have her book in stock!  These toweling fabrics (and xtra wide goods) require just a simple hem and you've got a dining room makeover with a simple tablecloth and napkin set!  Or you can get fancy and choose a great applique motif for a table runner project.  Either way you'll enjoy the fresh look for your table.

Happy Stitching!!

As our local COVID numbers continue to restrict business activity we will maintain this blend of available hours.  We feel it is important to be part of the solution and want to do our best to help mitigate the ongoing spread of COVID-19.  Now that we will be juggling home school again this Fall we'll see what shop hours we can support starting in September...things just don't stay the same!

We have implemented a few changes to our shop layout and business practices to help maintain social distancing, upgraded sanitizing efforts and require that all customers wear facial coverings for the duration of their visit.  Shopping visits are limited to 30 minutes per state requirements and since we have limited staffing available, please reserve an appointment if you would like assistance with your project or shopping choices.

With September quickly approaching, despite our current heatwave we are thinking of autumn foliage and new projects for longer evenings.  We've been combining fabrics and revisiting some favorite projects - are you ready for a fresh start or a supplement to the stash?

As our local COVID numbers continue to limit our ability to move to the next phase of opening we will maintain this blend of available hours.  We are excited for re-opening but want to do so in a smart way and do our part to help mitigate the ongoing spread of COVID-19.  Now that we will be juggling home school sessions again this fall we'll see what a new work schedule will look like.

We appreciate everyone doing their part to take care of our community.

We are starting a few new projects in between mask making....sound familiar?  And we've seen a few customer finishes of late as well!  We've had requests for backings and batting and bindings as everyone wraps up a COVID project or two...and requests for something new and fresh to supplement and re-inspire...but I have yet to hear "I've run out of fabric"!

We have some new batiks in stock - great for quilts, and for masks!

And some beginnings of red and green are filling the shelves in the reproduction room.  These subdued prints are darker shades and great for stash building or for holiday projects!

Happy Stitching!

As our local COVID numbers continue to limit our ability to move to the next phase of opening, we will continue with this blend of available hours.  We are excited for re-opening but want to do so in a smart way and do our part to help mitigate the ongoing spread of COVID-19.  We're doing our best to juggle social distancing requirements for staff and customers so that we can continue to stay open and healthy.  We have implemented a few changes to our shop layout and business practices to help maintain social distancing, upgraded sanitizing efforts and require that all customers wear facial coverings for the duration of their visit.  We appreciate everyone doing their part to take care of our community.

And now for a flash back!....last summer about this time, we were finalizing the installation of air conditioning (just one more reason to visit the shop now!) and recovering from a much anticipated whirlwind few days of hosting Margaret Mew and Judy Newman from Australia.  Sounds so much more complex now than it was at the time.  We were anticipating a visit from Lorena Uriarte (@lorena_in_syd) and Lisa Mattock (@foragebylisamattock) this fall, both from Australia and sadly those visits are off the 2020 calendar.

Back to last summer - we packed the classroom, we toured Whatcom County, we enjoyed good weather and stitched as much as we could.  Margaret and Judy are both talented and generous and provided a lovely impromptu trunk show full of inspiration within minutes of their arrival at the shop.

What a treat!  We enjoyed our time together and now with our current isewlation status look back with even greater appreciation at the opportunity to connect with fellow quilters and meet these lovely ladies!  Enjoy some inspiration and good memories with these photos and perhaps a new project will catch your eye!

We have a few starter kits of fabric packs hand-picked by Margaret and Judy for the Cleland Coverlet and County Claire quilts - we also have their books published by Quiltmania and the Wildflower Cushion pattern and County Claire Quilt in stock.  Thanks Margaret and Judy for such a great visit and wrap up to your US tour of 2019!  Give the shop a call or schedule an appointment to stop by and check out a project inspired by Australians!

Happy Stitching ~
