Eco-Friendly Laminate

Eco-Friendly Laminates

We sold out but were able to order more!  Why so popular?  Not only are these laminates amazingly-soft, they have a water-based urethane laminate that is CPSIA certified, BPA and Phthalate-free, food-safe and earth-safe.  They are even okay to machine wash!  Which makes them perfect for our bibs and bags!!

We have a selection of laminates - the two larger photo items are the most eco-friendly as detailed above.  Some of the others, have various degrees of eco-friendly features, organic base cloth or other friendly elements.  For table cloths and dog raincoats they are great options too!

If you've never worked with laminate there are a few simple tricks - no big secrets and lots of available online tips.  For example, We All Sew has some great general information.  Start with something small and simple - not too complicated and you'll find it is a versatile addition for lots of projects well-suited to our pacific northwest weather.

Toweling Projects

We've been having fun making aprons, table runners and napkins from toweling!  Of course - you can make new towels too...but these creative projects can make great gifts and will look great at your next family barbecue!  So cute, so practical, so easy and so fast (2 edges are already hemmed for you)!  And with our collection of patterns by Jenelle Kent from Pieces to Treasure, inspiration is easy to find!

This table runner and napkin set were gifted for my BFF's birthday.   She was oh-sew happy!!  We've added some great new stripes which would be fun pillows on the deck or festive table runners.

Pretty sure all my girlfriends are getting a Le Petite Sac for Christmas this year!  Shhh...it's never too early to start the gift-giving stash!

2T Did you Know? Transfer-Eze

Did you know that there's a super fast and easy way to transfer embroidery designs onto any fabric?!  I've known about Transfer-Eze for a long time but had never had an excuse to use it (or so I thought) until recently...  I wanted to stitch this design on some toweling that was too dark and too thick to see through for tracing...even with the help of my light-box set on it's brightest setting.  Stumped, I recalled the package of Transfer-Eze buried in a drawer of my sewing cabinet!  I followed the directions, turned on my printer/copier and literally minutes later I was ready to start stitching!  As a matter of fact, it took longer for my printer to warm up than it did to print, trim and adhere the Transfer-Eze!!  This is a "rinse away" product and I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it dissolved (about 20 minutes in cold water) and with zero residue.  It's not just for embroidery either! It's perfect for appliqué, machine quilting, hand quilting and punch-needle patterns as well.

Happy May Day ! We've got loads of New Fabric

Working with these fun prints makes any project that much more enjoyable right?  Seagulls in sweaters and woodland campers playing banjos???  Mermaids and sailors are a good match and we would love to see what projects you are inspired to make from these fabrics.  Of course a travel pouch and picnic quilt seem like easy options, but these prints would also make super cute everyday napkins or a one of a kind dress for a special little one.  We now have the Geranium dress pattern in stock and that would be a great choice for a few of these prints.

Dear Stella

If only my garden blooms could be so profuse and over the top - this print is glorious!  We also added a few new geometrics and stripe prints to our bold and beautiful floral print collection.

 Kaffe Fassett

And this latest group of soft romantic florals designed by Betsy Chutchian for Moda.  We have the charm packs currently in stock for this group as well.

Susanna's Scraps

Are you ready for a new project or perhaps you're ready for some new fabric to lead the way?!  Happy May Day!  We hope you'll stop by soon and see what's new.
