Design Confidence Play

Would you like to have more confidence in your color and design choices?  Come play with Francie and explore five principles of quilt design;  Color, Value, Scale, Unity and Balance.  You will practice creating balanced designs quickly using your scraps.  Francie will share tips and tricks that will encourage daily stitching of small "quiltlets" that will lead to big success!  She'll share how she's even made a memory book from scraps!  This is a two-session, relaxing, hand stitching class...no machine needed!  Beginning stitchers welcome!!

English Paper Piecing 1.0

Add another technique to your quilting bag of tricks by stepping into the world of EPP. This is a very portable technique, is great for the “slow stitching” movement that is happening now and is a relaxing way to stitch some trickier block shapes. This class will cover the basics and introduce you to the tools of the trade and basic construction of paper piecing methods.

Two-Colored Binding

Have you always wanted to know how to make those two-colored bindings that you see on so many wall hangings and art quilts?  Well, here is your chance to learn how to make a two-colored binding (also known as "flange" binding) all in one piece and all by machine...no handwork needed here!!  This is a technique class that will use a small sample...you don't have to rush to finish a quilt to bring to class!  Some previous binding knowledge/experience is appropriate for this class.  Brand new to binding?!  Checkout Jo's "Better Binding" class on our website.

Hand Piecing Basics Class

We've got another skill-building class on the books - it seems like quilter's are finding more time away from their sewing machines whether traveling, or at home and on the go or at home in the midst of activity and conversation - and a bit of hand-stitching fits the situation best.  Here's one more way to keep your projects in process when you're away from the sewing machine!

Hand Piecing Basics with Sharon Tucker

Looking to expand your sewing techniques?  Join Sharon Tucker of Grass Roots Quilting to learn about hand piecing!  This is a hands-on, technique-based class where you can learn a new skill or refine you hand sewing technique.  She will give you plenty of time to practice your stitches and guide you on the basics of hand stitching. It's a great skill to learn that you can take with you anywhere! Hand piecing is a portable and travel-friendly option to keep you stitching on the go.

You will also learn about preparing templates, marking your fabric, and starting and stopping your seams.  This class will also cover some more advanced tips and tricks for curved piecing, inset seams and how to manage bulky points.  This is a two-session class and a starter kit for the first session is included in the class fee.  A great way to add to your quilting bag of tricks! Learn more here.

Block in Time Club

We plan to start the new year out right with a bit of fabric history and a bit of stitching - seems like the perfect combination for a whole lot of fun!  Our Block in Time Club will meet each month for a lesson on quilt piecing and a discussion on fabric history.  This series will run for 6 months starting in January 2020 and we'll see how far in time we travel!

Susan Standley will lead a monthly discussion on quilt designs and fabric types from the late 1800's.  Topics will include fabric styles, fabric dyes and historical colors and women's history relevant to the time period.  We'll go in-depth with two blocks, touching on the block history and construction techniques and also focus on typical fabric styles and colors for that time period.  We'll include a curated fabric pack each month and Susan has gathered lots of additional items of interest that will make this class special and the time fly!!




















We hope you'll join us, for this six month series.  Class will meet on Fridays (generally the 4th Friday) at 10:30am.  This would make a perfect gift from Santa don't you think?  Please give us a call for more information or stop by the shop to register.  We'll have this added to the website for online registration in a few more days....

Tonya's fresh out of the Stash Lab with a new book, String Theory 2.0, new patterns and some new classes!  This one is filling up fast so grab your spot stat!  This is a fun project and requires only a small amount of scraps to make a lovely addition o your table.  Lean towards Fall colors (like our sample) or maybe Spring colors to make it your own!  In this class Tonya will demonstrate a fun technique used for fusible appliqué that can be hand stitched or done by machine.  Finished project size is 18.5" x 42.5".

Also from Tonya's new book, String Theory 2.0, is the swoon-worthy Petal Pusher!  Mix some of your favorite scrap strips with a fast and fun fusible appliqué technique to make this lovely.  In this project, Tonya will help you to combine your beautiful scrap strips into jumbo-sized orange peel blocks.  Two different size options to choose from...  A large throw 60.5" x 60.5" or a baby size of 40.5" x 40.5".

Garden Wreath Embroidery

We have a gorgeous floral quilt on display in the classroom, have you stopped by to see it?  The 3 dimensional flowers are amazing and this pattern is the basis for our upcoming embroidery class.  If you're interested in either revisiting or improving your stitching skills, this class project is for you!

Arlo Quilt Club

Arlo Quilt Club

Are you a fan of Carolyn Friedlander's projects and overall style?  We are enamored with her latest fabric collection 'Instead' showcased perfectly in the Arlo Quilt!  Fabric bundles will be arriving any day now and we are ready to get this project started.  We'll be hosting a four-session sew-along to create the Arlo quilt, Carolyn's modern take on a classic hexagon.

This is not a how-to class, rather we're offering a guided sew-along for stitching and conversation. Although general sewing skills and ability will be required, the Two Thimbles team will be stitching along with you, and provide support and consultation.  Come together with like-minded stitchers for a fun opportunity to create a beautiful modern quilt in a group setting and channel some Friedlander style. This is a customizable project, so quilters can choose from several different project sizes ranging from a mini quilt to a traditional throw size. This project was designed to allow for various construction methods too - you can machine piece, hand piece or English Paper Piece this project - so pick your favorite style of working.  

Club members will receive half-off the participation fee with the purchase of Carolyn's curated fat quarter bundles from Two Thimbles.

Speed Dating Class with Krista Hennebury

Valentine's Day is just around the corner - Are you looking to spice up your love life? We may not be able to help you find a hot date, but we ARE offering a class that can further your love affair with quilting! 

On Friday, March 8, join us for Speed Dating, a class hosted by Vancouver-based quilter Krista Hennebury. 

While you (probably) won't be meeting your next significant other at this class, it is a great opportunity to practice fun, fast-paced improv piecing techniques. The class, like the name suggests, mirrors the idea of speed dating as techniques are taught quickly, leaving students little time to overthink or second guess their work.

By the end of the class, each student will walk away with a new love in their life: a unique, original quilt!

We've got some beautiful Lana Wool thread from Aurifil in 3 basic colors (large spools) as well as pre-wound bobbins in a myriad of colors...so you can get a variety of colors without a big investment!  This 12wt thread is a lovely, soft blend of 50% Acrylic and 50% Wool.
