Organized for a moment!

Some days call for a bit of color-sorting...the task of organizing our fat quarters into types, color order, fabric collection, featured display, theme, endless but when we set up a new fixture and got all these 1800's color sorted it was photo worthy for a moment!  It is more of a color-sorted jumble now, but we know what the potential is now.  Kind of like that endless cycle of organizing your sewing space and destroying it in the midst of a creative streak.

1800's fat quarters freshly sorted

At the shop it seems we're all in the midst of pre-summer hectic with school graduations and last minute projects, summer travel plans in the making and gardening in full swing.  I scored this amazing tub of peonies for my trip to the east side for Memorial Day - bloom time there was delayed so it was perfect that one of my quilting connections just happens to be a peony grower!  We took a moment to visit this statue in Pendleton, and placed one salad plate sized bloom.

In the midst of all the activities a bit of sewing and plotting for future projects is always underway.  What is on your summer sewing list?!

We hope your summer plans involve some sewing time, and some fabulous quilt shop finds! If you're traveling to or through the Bellingham area, we hope you find time for a visit.

Happy Stitching!

Hope's Journey Class Update

Take a look at what folks are piecing in the Hope's Journey (Classic Blocks, Reproduction Quilts, Stories of Bygone Days from Betsy Chutchian) stitch along!  Absolutely beautiful work and so much individual interpretation - it really keeps things interesting!  Nice work ladies!

Small quilt from Chapter 4
Sample of two different color ways (kits available in store)

Didn't sign up for the stitch-along?!  No worries!  You can still follow the Journey with a copy of Betsy's book and our kits.  Each month we release a kit that will help you to recreate that month's small quilt and of course we have plenty of reproduction and Civil War fabrics to help you recreate  the 28 blocks that make up the Sampler Quilt at Journey's end!  We currently have kit available for Chapter's 1-5.
