Quilts for Little Ones!

We are currently open by appointment Tuesday through Saturday

Please use the booking tool on our home page to reserve a time for in-store shopping.  https://www.twothimbles.com/

We will expand the appointment offerings if needed, so please let us know if you have tried to book and no appointments were available!  This method provides an opportunity for our customers to feel confident in their shop experience while also limiting the exposure and responsibilities for our team, allowing us to provide service to in-store shoppers while also continuing to fulfill orders and complete other tasks with limited staff and shorter hours.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We have implemented a few changes to our shop layout and business practices to help maintain social distancing, upgraded sanitizing efforts and require that all customers wear facial coverings for the duration of their visit.  We appreciate everyone doing their part to take care of our community - we certainly don't want to backtrack on the progress we've made.

We appreciate your ongoing patronage and look forward to seeing you in the shop soon Or give us a call and we'll help you shop over the phone!

We are available Tuesday through Saturday from 10am - 4pm

Although it seems like the world has been on hold since mid-March, some of our customers are greeting new arrivals from afar during this crazy time.  Here are a few of our favorite options for small quilts!  The simple star below, starts with a charm pack and a free pattern from Moda Fabrics, we've got this combination in a soft peachy pink or blue in case you need to cover all the options!!

And for summer babies or hot climates - a simple whole cloth blanket of cotton lawn makes a super soft and comfortable wrap!  We've got some florals and a few geometrics in stock.  We've also combined flannel and lawn for a quick receiving blanket that gives you the perfect flexibility for our changeable summer weather.

Cotton lawn prints

We've got some flannel combinations packaged and ready to go - you can add some soft mini pom-poms to the edge for a fun finish or decorative stitching and rounded corners!  Traditional binding from soft cotton lawn or a deep wrapped and mitered corner edge provides a special finish too.  Lots of options to personalize and make your project a special gift to make and receive.

Happy Stitching!

What's new!

Of course - there's always new fabric...and occasionally we make progress on a few samples too...sometimes they have been on the cutting or sewing table for longer than others - if you know what I mean!

Here's a fun small throw size quilt in some contemporary batiks - we've got some kits made up or you can choose your own fabrics - it only takes 7!  This is one of the pattern cards from Villa Rosa "Smudge"....there's also another version of this quilt pattern - a smaller baby size quilt that would be great in some fun geometric prints for a new arrival!

We've also whipped up a spring scarf in floral lawn prints - this is a fun patchwork project using Judy Newman's "Sonia Scarf" pattern.  This fun cotton trim is included in our kits and we have a couple of color options too!  The kits are adequate for 2 scarves, so if you have deserving friend this might be just the spring wardrobe refresher you're looking for!   We had fun adding some extra embellishing stitches to this project too - a great excuse to play with fabric and thread!  We have also stocked Judy's "Dilly Bag" pattern - a fun bag to make and use all your favorite scraps and a chance for embellishing too!

Our shelves are stocked with a wide range of Grunge basics - we added some softer tones for spring and couldn't resist some bold additions as well.

Textures and neutrals are popular - and we're adding more toweling to our offerings along with these new Boro Foundation fabrics from Moda ...a great combination for mixing together with towelings and now we need to settle on which project for our next store sample from the new book by Janelle Kent of Pieces to Treasure.  We have enjoyed all of the individual patterns we've tried so far and have a few options on display in the shop.  These are great projects to make as gifts or treat yourself to something fun!

Hearts & Flowers Season

We've finished this soft floral sample and feel like it certainly hits the mark for a bit of a spring pick-me-up!  This is a quick finish project featuring a pattern card from Villa Rosa Designs and some great prints from the Cheeky fabric line for Moda.

This rainbows and hearts collection is perfect of course for your Valentine - but with this strong color palette it really isn't limited in season to February!  We have 2.5 inch strip rolls for this collection as well as the fabrics shown above.  A few simple project ideas also feature the quick to make patterns from Villa Rosa Designs - or pull out your favorite jelly roll pattern and you'll have a quick finish with precut strips!  Now ....where did I hide the latest stash of chocolate and I'll be all ready for sweethearts day!

Latest Additions

We've got a few new finishes to start off our spring season - this small quilt is a variation on one we've done previously, it's a free one on the Moda Bakeshop website.  We modified this version to use yardage, rather than a charm pack, and the center square features a fussy cut portion of the lovely border print from Michael Miller called Mermaid Magic.

And a fun and bright small through from the Tumbling Blocks pattern by It's Sew Emma - this pattern is fat quarter friendly so it is a versatile project and a quick finish too!

Modern Tyke Tumbling Blocks

We've got fabric and patterns for both of these projects!  We have a couple of other quilts underway and lots of new inspiration on the shelves - great new books and lots of new fabric lines!  Some great variety and a few new charm packs and mini-charms if you want a sampling of Liberty Gatherings or Tabby Road.

New additions

We are not ready for December...and it looks like it's here and going to come with some cold weather this week.  Not ready for that really either!  The sewing room is looking cozy and is there anyone out there keeping me company and burning the midnight oil in Santa's workshop?

We have lots of new fabric coming in and some great new products and gift ideas for sure - so watch for more updates along those lines in case you are in charge of filling your own holiday wish list?!  We have a quilt on display from Wyndham fabrics featuring the Studio Alphabet line from Marcia Derse so you might want to pop in and view it before it has to continue on it's travels.

We've added some small quilts to the mix - good for a quick gift or new accent for your decorating, add a few pillows or a fun pillowcase to 'gift-wrap' the project in and you're set!

What's new

We have alot of great fabrics filling the shelves to overflowing, and have added some basic new colors of grunge, woven checks and crossweaves as well.  In between unpacking boxes we have been finishing up a few projects.  This rainy weather has been perfect motivation to get a few projects underway.

It is the time of year we love - pumpkin scones and pumpkin spice lattes any chance we get.  This new throw size quilt top features a fabulous print from Alexander Henry and the Haunted House collection.

Pressed Leaves

We are happy to showcase one of our favorite fall projects created by local author and pattern designer Tonya Alexander - she whipped up a fresh sample of her Pressed Leaves table runner and dropped off a few patterns for us so we have a splash of bright color on display too.  If you haven't decided on your table decor for the upcoming holidays this could be stitched up in no time!
Here is a quick outfit for a little one - this Knick Knack Knickers and Piece of Cake dress are both free online patterns designed by Anna Maria Horner, one of our favorite designers.  There are alot of great versions shown on Anna Maria's blog so the fabric possibilities are endless!
