Snow Falling

Today we are closed - which is our new normal for Mondays since we are open on Sundays now (as of this past Labor Day).  However, today there is snow so we're happy to have the excuse to watch from the window and relax with some stitching.  Or catch up on myriad tasks from holiday prep to year-end paperwork!  Does that sound like your day too?

Since our weather has been variable - you may want to call and confirm our local conditions before you head out our way this week.  Our weather from one side of town to the other can be different and especially if you are coming from the north or the south...

We've got some great new fabrics - and we're playing with double gauze now too (these latest two are nani iro), great for wearables and perfect for infinity scarves - the one size fits all quick gift!  Just in case you haven't quite got all your gifts planned out just yet!

We've added some great projects to the shop displays - and we have some ideas at the ready if you need a quick gift for a quilter or a last minute project or just some final stocking stuffers to round out our shopping.

Felt ornaments are a great craft for the kids and you can keep it simple and use glue and glitter for keeping it simple or get fancy with extra stitches and buttons depending on how dedicated your crafters are.  We have a variety of wool felt colors to choose from and loads of floss, some holiday sequins and fancy ribbons too!  The kart paper/fabric tags you see hanging in the photo above are also great projects to add a personal touch to your gift giving and creative projects.  We have this product in silver grey and kraft brown.  You can color, stitch, paint, glue...and just about everything else on this product besides sew it!  Lots of possibilities - we've added it to some of our tote bags recently.

Just a reminder we're closed on Monday's (even when we don't have snow!).

New additions

We are not ready for December...and it looks like it's here and going to come with some cold weather this week.  Not ready for that really either!  The sewing room is looking cozy and is there anyone out there keeping me company and burning the midnight oil in Santa's workshop?

We have lots of new fabric coming in and some great new products and gift ideas for sure - so watch for more updates along those lines in case you are in charge of filling your own holiday wish list?!  We have a quilt on display from Wyndham fabrics featuring the Studio Alphabet line from Marcia Derse so you might want to pop in and view it before it has to continue on it's travels.

We've added some small quilts to the mix - good for a quick gift or new accent for your decorating, add a few pillows or a fun pillowcase to 'gift-wrap' the project in and you're set!

Gift Ideas for quilters!

One of my discoveries at quilt market was this great new publication - and if you stop by the shop you can take a sneak peek at our shop copy!  This would make an ideal gift for a quilter on your shopping list - and since it is a new publication - you won't have to worry that they already have it!

This is a unique keepsake magazine that feels more like a book with gorgeous photos and zero advertising.  The publisher is an Oregon based company and the quarterly magazine is dedicated to celebrating the people and the stories behind the stitches.  The magazine will be mailed directly to you and we have registration forms at the shop or you can go online and learn more here:

New Freespirit fabrics

Something vibrant to add to our shelves - yes a few of these are Kaffe, but more of them are designed by Brandon Mabley or Phillip Jacobs.  They all fit the bill for bright and cheerful as we continue with more rain and rain and rain here in the great Pacific Northwest!

We are working on some great new programs for 2016, including the Delilah Template of the Month by Jen Kingwell and some other new additions will be appearing in the coming weeks.  We hope you'll include Two Thimbles in your 2017 sewing and quilting project plans!

Thanksgiving

Two Thimbles is closed Thursday the 24th and open regular hours on Friday the 25th!

We are celebrating this Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends and hope that you are able to do the same...of course some bonus stitching time while we travel and visit seems reasonable too!

Enjoy!

Delilah BOM and Moving on Lawns

Drum roll please....One of the great opportunities that I jumped to take advantage of at quilt market was the chance for our shop to participate in Delilah, the upcoming 2017 Template of the Month project designed by Jen Kingwell.  There will be a limited number of shops participating so that makes it a bit of an opportunity for us, and it's always fun to have a new WIP to anticipate as the new year quickly approaches.

The project will start in March and will include a pattern and template set each month for 12 months.  Block sizes will vary and the designs are suitable for machine or hand-piecing or a combination of methods as you prefer.  We'll be offering a fabric kit option as well - but the details won't be available for that part until 2017.  We'd love to have  you join us in creating a unique quilt in the Jen Kingwell style - you can register on our website or stop by the store.

Samples of Jens Blocks from Quilt Market, still a work in progress
And of course - the latest fabric line by Jen Kingwell "Moving on Lawns" - we have mini-charms and  charm packs and a healthy selection of the fabric line.  You'll want to check these out and adopt a few to co-mingle with your other favorites!  A great variety of geometrics and print scale that play well with others...

Just a reminder we're open 12-4 on Sundays - and we'll be closed this week on Thursday for Thanksgiving.  We'll be spending time on Thursday with family and friends and hope you find time to relax, stitch a little and enjoy some good company as well!

Galactica

The Super moon has come and gone, and we were able to glimpse it despite the cloudy skies in our area.  Have you been moon gazing or out studying the skies - this fabric line is perfect for science lovers and star gazers alike.  This fabrics have a great neutral go with anything coloring and a great vintage vibe lifted from Encyclopedia's.  Great for totes, quilt backs or geek chic wearables for all your science friends.
